Local Attractions

Minutes from the action

Being in such a great location means we’re at the heart of everything! You’re just a short drive away from so many attractions, both hidden away and well known. We aren’t right on the coast, so you won’t be scrambling up and down steep paths but you can easily drive there in a few minutes.

Cornwall is well known for being a wonderful area in the United Kingdom, renowned for its beauty and picturesque scenes. It’s already a go-to for many holiday goers in and around the UK, so why not visit with us in mind? We are a little slice of peace and quiet, in what can be quite a busy place!

Under 20 minutes away

Close by, we have St. Austell, which is our nearest town, (4 miles), the City of Truro (11 miles), and the famous village and port of Charlestown, known as the film set for the cult television show, Poldark, is just 5.4 miles away.

Step back in time at the Lost Gardens of Heligan; lose yourself in over 200 acres of whimsical gardens; a world of romance, nostalgia and adventure awaits your discovery. Open all year round, this peaceful paradise is just 12 minutes from the park, and perfect for couples or families.

Just 18 minutes away is the world renowned Eden Project!  Located in a reclaimed china clay pit, the project is dominated by two huge enclosures consisting of adjoining domes that house thousands of plant species, with each enclosure emulating a natural biome.  The larger of the two biomes houses a rainforest environment (and is the largest indoor rainforest in the world) and the second, a Mediterranean environment.  It also has an outdoor botanical garden, which is home to many plants and wildlife native to Cornwall and the UK.  As well as this, the site holds incredible concerts, seasonal events and magical evenings out too!  Being only a short drive away from Meadow Lakes, we recommend everyone make the short journey to see just how beautiful nature is!

Lovely nearby beaches

We are lucky enough to be just a short drive from a variety of beautiful beaches and coastline, from hidden coves to sprawling golden sands, ask us at Reception for our favourite recommendations to visit during your stay!

Newquay

Newquay, on Cornwall’s Atlantic Coast, was voted “one of the nation’s favourite seaside towns” in the prestigious Which Holiday Survey, and is home to the famous Fistral beach, which not only hosts Boardmasters, arguably Cornwall’s most well known surf and music festival, but was also voted one of the UK’s top ten beaches by Tripadvisor! This lively town is just 30 minutes away, and home to fantastic surf, great restaurants, as well as other attractions…

Walk through the amazing Blue Reef Aquarium’s underwater tunnel, get up close to exotic animals at Newquay Zoo, stroll along the stunning coastline, or stop at any of the wonderful independent Cornish bars and cafes.

A piece of history

Easily one of the most famous parts of Cornwall is the southerly most point of The Lizard Peninsula – only an hour away. This geological marvel is simply stunning and is just a short drive from our park, but if you’re willing to go a tiny bit further, take a trip to Land’s End; England’s most south westerly point with beautiful views and plenty of fantastic places to eat or drink.

The Famous St Michael’s Mount is just over 2 hours from the Park, making a perfect day trip to view an ever changing coastline that spans the granite causeway, St Michaels Mount is a medieval mixture of man-made and natural wonders. Showcasing a legendary medieval church that was built in the 15th century that dominates the skyline. St Michaels Mount is home to a very small population of around 35 people (figure correct as of 2011), and is only accessible between mid and low tide.
