Meet The Animals at Meadow Lakes

Pet’s Corner

Here at Meadow Lakes, our Pet’s Corner attracts guests of all ages with a variety of animals to see! Children and adults alike will love a chance to visit our friendly pets every day on the park. Our friendly animals include ponies, donkeys, goats guinea pigs and many birds!

Our Playful Ponies

Our miniature Shetland ponies, Alfie and Rufus are brothers and were born in 2010.  They came to Meadow Lakes in April 2016, and like to go on walks around the park, and get lots of attention during animal petting times. You may even see Rufus in his unicorn pink boots from time to time!

Then we have Blackberry, who is our youngest, and has been rehomed with us from The Hugs Foundation in Bodmin.  She is a Dartmoor pony who was brought off the moors as a foal, and is slowly being introduced to the rest of the herd, proving herself to be a confident, bright young pony!

Please only feed them at designated animal petting times and when a member of staff is present, they are on a special diet, so any extra food (including grass), could make them very poorly.

Our Gorgeous Goats

Our resident goats are Charlie and Lola, are twins and came to Meadow Lakes in 2014.  They have been cheeky trouble makers ever since!

They love to have attention from both guests and staff and sunbathe when they can, but can be found tucked up in their pens when it’s a rainy day.

They are very greedy, so please only feed them at designated animal petting times when a member of staff is present.

Our Giddy Guinea Pigs

We have several guinea pigs that all live together here at Meadow Lakes.

They are very friendly, and love being fussed over by guests during animal petting times.

They have lots of space to run around and play, and love nothing more than munching on some veg or hay!

Our Darling Donkeys

Kingpin, our chocolate coloured donkey, came to Meadow Lakes from a donkey sanctuary in 2001 at a young age.

He is very friendly, laid back and loves a bit of attention!

Miriam, our newest Donkey, has recently been rescued by us, and is being cared for by our lovely team and main Animal Handler, Zara, to be given the best life she deserves here at Meadow Lakes!

Please only feed them at designated animal petting times and when a member of staff is present, they are on a special diet, so any extra food (including grass), could make them very poorly.

Meadow Lakes Holiday Park

Our Feathered Friends

Our resident geese Tucker and Tilda have a happy life here at Meadow Lakes after being rescued in July 2019.

Our geese love nesting and swimming about on our lakes, and also have their fluffy little babies here each year, so if you are holidaying with us during spring time, you’ll most likely see them down there!

We also have several hens that can usually be found having a wander around Meadow Lakes, they’re a friendly and confident – (nosy) – bunch, so you may well have some unexpected guests at your door during your stay that come to say hello!

Our hens live a happy life, roaming free range around the park. They have all been rescued at different stages from industrial battery farms, where they were forced to produce eggs, so we were delighted to be able to give them the space and freedom they rightly deserve here at Meadow Lakes! The chickens love to explore and are very friendly, but please don’t feed them or try to pick them up!
